Sailing Season is Finally Here!

Published on 4/16/2018

We have two events scheduled for next weekend.  Saturday (April 21st) is Race Committee and Vessels training and Sunday (April 22nd) is boat launch and tune up race day.

Boat launch and tune-up
Get help with launching your boat from your fellow sailors. We will be rigging our boats on Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of the South Shore Marina.  Once people get launched, Vice Commodore Mark Hardenberg will put out some buoys to race around and he will man a rescue boat.

Race Committee and Vessels training
Feeling a bit rusty on your RC skills or not quite sure how to operate the club vessels?  If so, this is the perfect refresher course for you.  Pete Japikse is kindly running a Race Committee training session next Saturday morning (April 21st) where he will go over Race Committee roles and duties.  In the afternoon he will gave hands on training in the operation of the club safety vessels.

Pete is a great teacher and I am sure you will find the sessions informative. They should also help make your Race Committee duty more enjoyable because you will understand the logistics and be able to do your part to ensure smooth and safe race management and vessel operation.

Go to the events calendar on club express to sign up.  You will need to log in. If you have forgotten your login information, contact our webmaster Mike Conrad for help.

Newer members (i.e. people who joined the club in the last 2-3 years) will be given priority in the hands on vessel training.
