Club update from the Commodore

Dan Adams | Published on 6/17/2020

Hello CLSA,

I hope everyone is doing well and you have been able to get out on the water to enjoy some SAILING!!!

Wanted to send out a note to let everyone know how things are going and provide an update on upcoming events.

Status of Facilities:

  • The raccoon has been removed from the basement chimney and a stainless steel cap has been installed to prevent it’s return.
  • Expect an upcoming work party to get the basement back in order after the installation of the plumbing system and other activities down there.
  • We have hot water in the clubhouse – YEA!
  • All of the water heaters in the club house and shower house have been flushed (twice!), so the water quality should be good to go.
  • The kitchen facilities are still closed for food preparation, pending further guidance from the CDC.
  • We will be planning an upcoming work party to throw gravel and level out the access road.
  • The Kayak dock has been launched, may need a tweak but it is in the water – thanks Pete, Steve Fader and Marybeth!

Club Vessels:

  • As you probably know, we are back up and running with the club vessels and our racing program.
  • As a reminder, our lease with ODNR dictates that these boats are to be used for club maintenance, race committee and rescue only. We are charged by ODNR and our lease with operating these boats at 9.9 hp speeds while out on the lake, unless high speeds are dictated by race committee needs or rescue operations.
  • When not in use, all equipment needs to be returned to the container.

Junior Program:

  • CLSA-T will be running a series of daily Junior Camp sessions through July 10th. These are daily sessions, bring your own food/beverage, and operated according to the CDC and US Sailing Guidance. Please contact Katie Nappi if you would like more information fehskensk@hotmail.com.
  • As a reminder, the access roads to the Junior Area are intended for boat launching and maintenance only, this area is not intended as a social area. Please refrain from parking in the Junior Area during the day if you are not launching a boat or doing maintenance on a boat or lift.

July 4th Weekend:

  • YES, we are planning to have a club regatta and July 4th celebration Saturday night.Save the date keep an eye out for a more detailed communication.

    New and Prospective Members:

  • We have had quite a few new members come on board this year and a number of perspective members touring the club. Please reach out and introduce yourself and give them a hand if needed.

Please remember to follow CDC Guidelines while at the club, and we are excited to get back out there and enjoy the sailing season!!
