Season continues to be "on hold"

During these remarkable times, club officers are continuing to monitor guidance from state and health officials with regard to our sailing club activities. While we all enjoy our sport and camaraderie with fellow sailors, the last thing anyone desires is to place members and friends at risk due to COVID-19.

There are several considerations in our season opening, including the following:

  1. Our racing program on the lake is done by special permit with ODNR. Currently all special permits are cancelled until at least April 15. That may be extended, and if so, will prevent us from holding any organized activities on the water.
  2. Work parties result in individuals in close proximity and are not conducive to social distancing. Until that guidance is lifted, organized work parties are not an activity that should be promoted.
  3. Our membership spans multiple generations and ages. We have some members whose risk is minimal from COVID-19, while others are included in groups of individuals that are high risk.
  4. Governor DeWine has just placed a “stay at home” order today that goes through April 6th, so folks will be staying home with the exception of Essential Business then, and this could be extended.

With these factors and others in the forefront, the club activities calendar will remain flexible.

With the governor’s stay-at-home order today, the events scheduled for April 4 and 5 are cancelled. We will not reschedule the club opening until we learn more.  The racing season is tentatively scheduled to start on April 19, but that could change also.

As we learn more from state and health officials, we will keep members apprised. Please continue to monitor emails from CLSA as well as the club website.
