Sunday sailing is a fundamental part of the junior program!
Opti sail in two fleets and receive coaching as they need. The Gold Fleet has sailing experience and the Green Fleet is working on time on the water. We enjoy awarding trophies and two fleets keeps it fun!
Green Fleet sailors can join the races or hang out on the water with the fleet. Time in their boats improves their skills and the jump in confidence from one summer to the next is truly remarkable
Opti sailors are on the water from Memorial Day through Labor Day and have six sailing series including: Memorial Day, June, 4th of July, July, August and Labor Day.
Teens are encouraged to sail their own boats, the 420’s or crew on all Sundays April through October.
Parents! Sailing is a unique sport as no one need sit on the sidelines. You sail too! Crew is always in demand and there are many sailors who are happy to teach you. Ask about it!
Parents of junior sailors are required to sign up for at least one day of race committee per family. This is a terrific opportunity to see your child in action. Various skills level will be matched up so no experience necessary.
If your sailor: participates in Jr. Camp, uses a boat from CLSA-T or sails the Club 420’s …then you need to do support the program with a race committee day. If you are able to sign-up for more than one day, your help is most appreciated. All the dates are listed on the Event Calendar. Please email your preferred dates to Brian More.
