Sunday Sailing and Racing

Sunday sailing is a fundamental part of the junior program! Time on the water improves sailing skills and builds the confidence of our youth sailors.

For our Opti Sailors: We offer Sunday afternoon sailing for our Opti sailors from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and have the option of two fleets:

Gold Fleet- experienced Opti sailors working on their racing skills 
Green Fleet - new and less experieced Opti sailors working on their basic sailing skills. Green Fleet sailors can join the races or hang out on the water with the fleet.  Time in their boats improves their skills and the jump in confidence from one summer to the next is truly remarkable

We enjoy awarding trophies and keeping it fun for the kids.

For our Laser and 420 sailors:  Experienced Laser and 420 sailors are encouraged to compete on our adult race course on Sunday afternoons April through October, either in their own boat or as crew in one of our adult fleets. Less experienced sailors can join us on the junior course Memorial Day through Labor Day. 

Parents! Sailing is a unique sport as no one needs to sit on the sidelines. Crew is always in demand and there are many sailors who are happy to teach you.  Ask about it!

Parents of junior sailors are required to sign up for at least one day of race committee per family. This is a terrific opportunity to see your child in action.  Various skills level will be matched up so no experience necessary.  If you are able to sign-up for more than one day, your help is most appreciated.
