Junior Sailing Camp
Our 2024 Junior Sailing Camp is scheduled for June 10 - 14, 2024 with camp set up on June 9th
CLSA Junior Sailing Camp is the highlight of our junior programming, and the entry point for our learn-to-sail activities. It is our hope that the skills learned at camp will provide your children with a life-long love of sailing!
Camp registration opens February 18, 2024. Please contact our camp director, Katie Nappi, at clsajuniorsailing@gmail.com to be added to our email distribution list for registration details and updates.
Eligibility
CLSA Junior Sailing Camp is open to members of Cowan Lake Sailing Association, their children, and grandchildren, ages 9-18. Youth memberships are available. For more information on membership, please contact our Membership Director, Judy Hearn, at 513-260-9897 or membership@clsa.club
Sailors should be a minimum of 9 years old by the start of camp. Younger children may be permitted on a case by case basis, per approval of the camp director.
Instructional Groups and Boats
Boats sailed at CLSA Junior Sailing Camp include Optis, 420s, and Laser Radials. Sailors are assigned to instructional groups based on best fit including sailing goals, skill level, and age. While boat ownership is encouraged, there are a limited number of Optis and Lasers available for new sailors and to ensure the youth program fits all budgets. 420 sailors use club owned boats.
Cost
The Camp fee for 2024 is $350. Camp fees cover instruction, meals, t-shirt, and boat usage (if applicable). This fee does not include membership or boat usage/storage fees.
Family Participation and Volunteer Requirements
Family participation is a core program value and parents/grandparents are required to volunteer at least one day and to supervise their sailors overnight. As camp is all inclusive, kitchen help is especially needed.
Along with sailing there will be trips to the swim beach, the world’s biggest slip-n-slide and the Amazing Race round out the fun. Be ready!
Not to worry if parental units are not sailors! We schedule education nights on various topics to ensure our group is prepared to drive power boats, run races, and handle emergencies. Plan for 1-2 evenings during camp.
